A father accused of punching his 14-year-old son following a basketball game in Lakeville is facing additional charges.
The Dakota County Attorney has charged 52-year-old Steven Ohara Wilson, of Eagan, with malicious punishment of a child and child neglect, both gross misdemeanors. The Lakeville city attorney had previously charged Wilson with misdemeanor domestic assault.
A criminal complaint says Wilson yelled at the boy and pushed him into a wall in the hallway of Lakeville South High School Dec. 10 following an eighth-grade game. The complaint says other parents intervened when the father hit his son several times in the head and upper body and the boy fought back.
A coach told investigating officers Wilson had previously been thrown out of a sporting event for yelling and swearing profusely.
Wilson earlier deferred comment to his attorney, who did not immediately return a call Monday.
