Bethel U students safe after Belgium hostel fire

ARDEN HILLS, Minn. (AP) -- More than two dozen students and professors from Bethel University were able to escape a fire at a hostel in Brussels, Belgium.

The university says the 28 students and two faculty members fled from the fire Thursday at the hostel which was later declared uninhabitable. The group is in Brussels as part of the January interim course Introduction to International Business.

Students were able to re-enter the building to collect their belongings, including passports. The group relocated to a nearby hostel.

Bethel is a Christian university of about 6,400 students in Arden Hills.
