Dog missing since fatal Xmas Eve crash is found

WILLMAR, Minn. (AP) -- A dog that had been missing since a fatal Christmas Eve accident near Willmar has been found alive and well.

The West Central Tribune reports the 3-year-old Schnauzer, named Lord, was skinny, full of cockleburs and didn't smell the best when he was found Friday.

He had been the subject of numerous searches after he ran away from a multi-vehicle crash Dec. 24 that killed 29-year-old Justin Gustafson of Redwood Falls. Gustafson, his parents John and Patty Gustafson, and the family's two dogs, Lord and Lady, were in a vehicle that was struck after another vehicle ran a red light.

Two volunteers took advantage of fresh snow Friday and spotted his tracks, then soon saw the skittish dog. They lured him in with a rotisserie chicken _ and Lady. (Copyright 2012 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.)
