Minnesota is apparently #7 in a Washington Post blogger's list of states suffering the largest collegiate "brain drain."
At a time when 75 percent of U.S. students study in their home state, Minnesota experienced a net loss 4,401 high-school grads to colleges in other states, according to the post, which relied on data from the National Center for Education Statistics.
The three states losing the most students: New Jersey (-27,343), Texas (-11,291) and Illinois (-10,498). Former collegiate paradise California is fifth with -8,495.
The three states that have gained the most students: Pennsylvania (+14,341), Indiana (+8,584) and Massachusetts (+6,894).
It doesn't get into how many students return after college, butyou can read the full article here.
