Stearns Co. board to vote on recreation trail

ALBANY, Minn. (AP) -- Stearns County officials have talked for a decade about building a recreational trail along an abandoned railroad corridor. The county board could finally vote this week on giving the project a green light.

The board will decide whether to authorize construction of a segment of the 26-mile Dairyland Trail to begin this spring. The trail would follow the old Canadian Pacific Soo Line corridor from Albany to Brooten. It would connect to the Lake Wobegon Trail in Albany.

The St. Cloud Times says the project has $650,000 in county capital improvement bonds, state bonding and a federal recreational grant.
