Minot officials seek comments on diversion options

MINOT, N.D. (AP) -- Minot residents are getting an opportunity to comment on diversion proposals for the Souris River.

The city scheduled a public meeting Tuesday night to talk about long-term flood protection as part of the process that's been ongoing since the river last year swamped more than 4,000 homes and businesses and forced thousands of people to evacuate.

The meeting will focus on proposed diversions in the west and southeast parts of the city. The Minot Daily News reports that the City Council eventually will select preferred options to guide engineers who are due to have a preliminary alignment by the end of February.
