On the hounds agenda this week: an L.A. rapper who celebrates the dark side of life, a comedy duo with a quirky, unpredictable performance style, and strange objects in a cramped basement, at night, in south Minneapolis.



Jon Jon Scott feels pretty strongly that just because some rap reflects the harsh, treacherous, bleak reality of life in a poor neighborhood doesn't mean it can't be celebratory or entertaining. Jon Jon writes about music on his blog 

, owns the Black Corners record label, and works at the Electric Fetus in Minneapolis. He's recommending 

upcoming show at the Varsity Theater in Minneapolis on Saturday, Feb. 18th. Schoolboy Q exchanged drug dealing on the streets of South Central Los Angeles for a music career but he holds a mirror to the gang lifestyle in his rhymes.





Soozin Hirschmugl has had her eye on the Minneapolis comedy duo 

 for quite a while now. Soozin's a big fan of the way the pair incorporates a quirky sense of humor, pop culture, and thoughtful philosophical musings into their work. Their new show, "You Don't Have to Choose Between Llamas and Dancing and Being With the One You Love," is part of the 



If you happen to be in south Minneapolis between 9pm and 4am this weekend, you should stop by artist Miranda Trimmier's home and take in her new basement installation, 

That's what Shanai Matteson, co-founder of the Minneapolis artist-led public design studio Works Progress did, and she said it was maybe the most unusual experience she's ever had viewing art in the Twin Cities. Miranda Trimmier is no stranger to 

. She took part in the Constellation Backyard Art Expedition, an event which was 'art hounded' last spring. You can see the installation Friday, Saturday or Sunday night and into Monday morning (it closes at 4am).
