2 men charged in Douglas Co. drug sting

Two men are charged after a SWAT team found drugs, guns and cash in an Osakis garage.

Twenty-seven-year-old John Hinderschied of Alexandria and 46-year-old Craig Cowdery face first-degree drug sale and possession charges.

The West Central Narcotics Task Force went to Cowdery's home in Osakis on Wednesday afternoon. Agents seized 18 guns, 43 marijuana plants, more than $34,000 cash, and methamphetamine worth about $44,000.

About 15 officers from eight law enforcement agencies assisted in the sting.

Sheriff Troy Wolbersen tells KSAX-TV it's one of the biggest drug busts in the area in recent years.

Unconditional bail for Hinderschied was set at $1 million while Cowdery's unconditional bail is set at $750,000. Both men remained in the Douglas County Jail Friday.
