MN couple to return to Nigeria despite attack

A Brooklyn Park couple says they'll return to Nigeria despite being attacked while on a church mission.

Dan and Tina Gibbs are members of Edinbrook Church in Brooklyn Park. They returned Friday from a trip to a remote part of the African country where they served at an HIV/AIDS center.

KARE-TV reports they were part of a team traveling in a van and thought they were approaching a military checkpoint. But it turned out to be an ambush by bandits. Tina Gibbs was shot in the leg. Their driver was hit by a bullet in the hand but was able to drive to safety. None of their injuries were life-threatening.

Tina Gibbs says they'll return as soon as they can. She says they feel God is calling them there.
