Coen Bros. crew filming in Steele County

The Coen Brothers needed some bare trees in the background for their latest film project. The trees on the East Coast had already started to bud, so the Minnesota-born brothers turned to Steele County.

Crews are filming near Medford for the movie "Inside Llewyn Davis" set to be released next year. Filming for the movie set in the 1960s began in New York last month. The Minnesota filming was pushed up a week because of the recent warm weather and how it could affect the trees.

The film crew set up its base camp at Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers in Medford. The Coen Brothers weren't at weekend filming which shot road scenes from Chicago to New York.

The Owatonna People's Press says Joel and Ethan Coen's film credits include "Fargo" and "The Big Lebowski."
