Nimrod wildfire continues to burn

Firefighters are keeping close watch on a wildfire Monday morning in north central Minnesota.

A dispatcher with Wadena County says as of this morning the blaze near Lyons State Forest continues to burn, but is contained. Emergency officials are concerned however that strong winds could whip up the fire's intensity again today. It burned about 1,000 acres on Sunday.

Crews from five area fire departments, the Department of Natural Resources and Wadena County have fought the fire since it started Sunday at around 4 p.m. Fresh crews are being dispatched to fight the fire Monday.

Dozens of homes were evacuated in the area of Nimrod on Sunday. Officials say no injuries have been reported because of the fire.
