Boy, 8, still critical after boat capsizes

LEONARD, Minn. (AP) -- An 8-year-old boy who fell into a frigid lake in northern Minnesota remains in critical condition, following an accident that left his two younger brothers dead.

A Bemidji Pioneer report says the family of Isaiah Risland is hopeful but not optimistic about his long-term prognosis.

The boys and their father, Dan Risland of Leonard, were boating Friday when their boat capsized. The father told authorities the current and winds prevented him from pulling them to shore. So he left them floating in life jackets while he rushed for help.

Sara Staley is Isaiah's aunt. She says it seemed as though Isaiah was responding to a nurse's questions Monday by moving his mouth and tongue. She says it may have been reflexes but she's hoping it's a good sign.
