Bachmann wraps Afghanistan visit

Rep. Michele Bachmann is wrapping up an overseas trip where she and other members Congress met with military and diplomatic officials in Afghanistan.

The Republican congresswoman has been critical of the Obama administration's plan to draw down troops from Afghanistan by 2014. Speaking with reporters via telephone from Qatar, Bachmann credited U.S. troops, including Minnesotans for their service in Afghanistan. She said none of the soldiers she spoke with on her visit said they thought the U.S. should pull out of Afghanistan now.

As for the eventual drawdown, Bachmann says the US will remain involved even after most of the troops are gone.

"It was reiterated to us that there will remain a presence it is just that we will not have a combat presence, we will be in the form of assistance but this is very, very fluid," she said.

Bachmann left Washington last Thursday. She's now returning to the capital.
