MnDOT plans 3rd St. Croix bridge meeting

The Minnesota Department of Transportation hopes that an open house Tuesday in Stillwater will ease questions and concerns of businesses near the site of the $676 million St. Croix River bridge project.

Construction on the bridge approach to Minnesota Highway 36 will begin in the fall of 2013. Construction on the bridge itself is still expected in start in 2014.

More than 100 people attended two previous sessions in the eastern Twin Cities suburbs that detailed detours, signage and other issues related to the four-lane span that will eventually replace the Stillwater Lift Bridge.

Mary McFarland Brooks from MnDOT says the department is collecting peoples' questions and concerns so the agency can better address any problems and issues.

Tomorrow's open house will be held at Stillwater City Hall from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Several more are planned through June.
