Deer herd crashes through Moorhead mall window

MOORHEAD, Minn. (AP) -- Shoppers at Scheels and the Moorhead Center Mall got a surprise this weekend.

A herd of about six disoriented white-tailed deer went crashing into windows and doorways at the mall on Saturday.

The Fargo Forum reports that two deer died _ one went crashing through a window and another was hit by a minivan and then ran into the front door of Scheels.

Glik's manager Nikki Miller says she was upset by the sight of a hurt deer on the ground, but police responded immediately.

The surviving deer made their way back to the river as officers arrived.

Sgt. Deric Swenson says that of the dead deer: one was taken for food and one was taken to the zoo to feed the wolves.
