Veteran's gravesite found disturbed

Authorities are investigating the disturbance of a World War II veteran's grave at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
Maj. Kip Carver of the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office said the veteran was buried at the cemetery in the 1970s.
"This morning a maintenance worker discovered that one of the gravesites had been disturbed," Carver said. "A significant amount of dirt, ground soil, had been displaced."
The gravesite is that of World War II-era veteran Edward John Redhead. He was buried in the cemetery in 1971, according to the Veteran's Administration. His family has been contacted.
Authorities said those responsible for the grave's disturbance could face a felony charge.
"This is a national cemetery, and many of our veterans and family members of those veterans are interred here," Carver said. "It's extremely disrespectful what's happened."
