Metro Transit offers free rides to art fairs this weekend

In an effort to get Minneapolis art lovers out of their cars and onto transit this weekend, Metro Transit is offering free rides.

Fairgoers with a Metro Transit ArtPass can ride free on buses and light rail between the Uptown Art Fair, the Loring Park Art Festival and the Powderhorn Art Fair .

The free-ride pass is available at and at each festival's website. To get a free ride, customers must show their downloadable pass to a bus driver or Transit Police officer. The free-ride offer is not available on Northstar.

Free rides on regular route buses that serve the neighborhoods will be available from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 4, and from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 5. ArtPass ambassadors will also be stationed at stops at each art fair to assist customers. Or, call a transit expert at 612-373-3333 or use the Trip Planner at
