MOA ramp fully reopened after fatal accident

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (AP) -- A portion of a Mall of America parking ramp has reopened more than a week after a deadly accident closed it down.

KSTP-TV reports crews had been repairing the ramp entrance at the Bloomington mall and making sure it is structurally sound.

Police say 52-year-old Raheem Waheed was driving a rental truck into the west ramp Aug. 3 and may have misjudged the height of the truck. The truck struck a concrete-and-steel support beam, causing the beam to crash down on the truck's cab.

Waheed died on the scene. A 45-year-old woman and her 12-year-old daughter who were also in the truck were able to get out. They were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
