Football coach booked in child porn case

The head football coach at Minnesota State University, Mankato has been arrested and faces possible criminal charges related to child pornography.

Todd Hoffner, 46, was booked Tuesday into the Blue Earth County Jail on suspicion of using underage people in a sexual performance and possession of child pornography. Hoffner has not been formally charged.

School spokesperson Dan Benson told the Associated Press that Hoffner was escorted off the football practice field on Friday.

Benson said in a statement Tuesday that Hoffner has been on leave from his position since Friday.

"A university investigation against Mr. Hoffner is pending," Benson said in a statement released Tuesday evening. "The University is not aware of any allegations affecting university students or program participants."

The Blue Earth County Sheriff's office did not immediately return requests for comment.
