With recent polls showing that the economy is one of the biggest issues in the upcoming election, MPR News reached out to contacts in our Public Insight Network to find out how the economy is affecting them.
Brent Bois, president of Midwest-based Calhoun Truck Lines, spoke to MPR's All Things Considered about how his business is recovering from the economic downturn. Early in the recession, he said, the company cut jobs, but it recently began hiring again. It also added a new location in Indianapolis this year.
"Obviously, the recession was a major blow to our business and our industry in general, but I guess the effect that it's had on our organization since we survived the recession has been a positive one because it's made us a better company in the long run," Bois said.
Bois said he has not decided which candidate will get his vote in the presidential election.
"I guess I'm not sure that the current administration would be the best for maintaining effective regulation," he said.
