MN to revoke clinic's methadone license

The state of Minnesota is revoking the license of a methadone clinic in Duluth over what it says are repeated violations of law.
The Duluth News Tribune reports that the order was issued Monday for the Lake Superior Treatment Center. The center is the only methadone clinic for opiate addiction north of St. Cloud and had about 400 patients enrolled as of this summer.
The order says inspectors found repeat violations including counselor caseloads that are too heavy, take-home doses that weren't properly controlled, insufficient background checks on counselors before hiring, and shoddy documentation and procedures.
A message left with the treatment center wasn't immediately returned. The clinic's owner, Florida-based Colonial Management Group, did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment.
