Minn. trooper arrested on DWI suspicion

Officials at the Minnesota State Patrol say they've arrested one of their own troopers on suspicion of driving a squad car while drunk.
Lt. Eric Roeske said Two Harbors resident Nick Morse reported for in-service training in Duluth Wednesday. A supervisor noticed an odor of alcohol, and a breath test showed Morse had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08, which is the legal limit in Minnesota.
Morse was arrested on a 4th Degree DWI and booked in the St. Louis County Jail. Roeske said the state patrol treated Morse the same as any other person.
"Troopers are human beings. They do make mistakes and they do have lapses in judgment," Roeske said. "However we do hold our people accountable and certainly will do so in this situation as well."
Morse has been a trooper since 2009. He has been placed on leave while internal and criminal investigations continue. Roeske said Morse has not been disciplined before in his three years as a state trooper.
