MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Minnesota athletic director Norwood Teague says he hasn't decided yet how long assistant basketball coach Saul Smith will be on unpaid leave, following his arrest for driving while intoxicated.
Smith was pulled over early Saturday and taken to the county jail, where he registered a blood alcohol content of 0.18, according to Minnesota State Patrol Lt. Eric Roeske.
Teague says he "won't tolerate" such behavior. Smith is the son of head coach Tubby Smith. Teague said Monday the discipline was his call.
Smith has a Dec. 3 court date. Teague says he's still evaluating the situation but doesn't expect to do "anything drastic."
Gophers star forward Trevor Mbakwe had a DWI this summer, too. But Teague says he doesn't believe the program has any "major problems."
