MINNETONKA, Minn. (AP) -- Minnetonka High School's principal says skin-tight spandex leggings worn by female students are becoming a distraction.
Principal Dave Adney has emailed parents urging them to talk to their children about the fashion trend and the need to "keep things covered up."
Students once paired long tops with the leggings, but Adney says shirts are getting shorter and showing a lot more bottom.
Some students say the leggings are no worse than tight-fitting jeans. But, Adney tells KMSP-TV denim doesn't provide the definition that leggings and spandex do.
Adney says he doesn't want to ban the leggings, but just wants students to use more discretion.
