Newtown victim has family in Minn.

One of the children killed in the Newtown, Conn., school shooting has relatives in Minnesota. Her grandmother, Irene Hagen, remembers Charlotte Bacon, 6, as a sweet, energetic girl.

Hagen said she was at her home Friday when she got a phone call from her daughter, Joann Hagen Bacon, who lives in Newtown, telling her about the lockdown at Charlotte's elementary school.

A few hours later, Hagen learned that Charlotte Bacon was one of 20 children killed in the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Hagen told WCCO-TV on Sunday that the whole family is devastated and trying to come to terms with Charlotte's death. She calls it "unimaginable."

Hagen described Charlotte as sweet and energetic, with red, curly hair. She said her granddaughter loved school and loved wearing dresses.

Joann Hagen Bacon grew up in Orono, Minn. Seventeen members of the Hagen family will travel from Minnesota to Connecticut on Monday morning. Charlotte's funeral will be held later this week.
