Izzy's recalls ice cream over glass scare

Izzy's Ice Cream in St. Paul has voluntarily pulled three ice cream flavors after discovering pieces of glass in a container of cinnamon purchased from an outside supplier.

The warning covers soy pumpkin, pumpkin, and cinnamon-flavored ice cream purchased after Nov. 7, 2012. A statement posted to the company's website Monday said only batches labelled either 1211 or 1212 are at risk of contamination.

Izzy's said it had not heard any customer complaints about its ice cream or evidence that these batches were contaminated, but wanted to exercise "the utmost caution."

The company is recommending that customers throw away the ice cream, or return it to the store or cafe where it was purchased for a refund.
