Luhrmann's 'Gatsby': Much hype, mixed reviews

"The Great Gatsby," the latest spectacle from Baz Luhrmann, opens on Friday. The Los Angeles Times says "'Gatsby' has arguably eclipsed every other 2013 film release in terms of pre-release hype."

In The New Yorker, critic David Denby dismisses it as "a frantic jumble" and a "flimsy phantasmagoria."

So what's the view from The Daily Circuit? Kerri Miller and Stephanie Curtis will talk about the glittering 3-D adaptation. "It's not a train wreck," Stephanie says, "but don't expect to see a work with depth equal to the novel."
