Minn. gov. signs emergency fire assistance order

Gov. Mark Dayton has signed an emergency order to help the Minnesota Interagency Fire Center fight wildfires around the state.

Dayton's office said Tuesday that 25 wildfires have broken out due to the hot, dry weather.

In northern Minnesota, a wildfire has grown to more than 9 square miles west of Lower Red Lake. Beltrami County Emergency Management Director Beryl Wernberg says rain Tuesday morning has helped make that fire more controllable.
