MN lottery players win nearly $3.9 million

ROSEVILLE, Minn. (AP) -- Minnesota State Lottery players won nearly $3.9 million in prizes during the six-week run up to Saturday night's Powerball jackpot drawing.

The run ended with a single $590.5 million winning ticket sold in Florida. But two tickets sold in Minnesota for the drawing are worth $10,000.

Lottery spokeswoman Debbie Hoffman says two tickets sold in Minnesota earlier during the run were worth $1 million apiece, while a total of 12 tickets sold in the run were worth $10,000.

The run also generated over $8.8 million for state government, including $4.9 million for the general fund, $2.3 million for the Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund and over $800,000 apiece for the Game and Fish Fund and the Natural Resources Fund. Retailers earned $1.3 million in commissions.
