4 killed in 2 separate Minnesota crashes

Four people have died in two separate crashes in Minnesota.

Anoka County sheriff's deputies say a man and woman in their 70s from Stacy were killed Wednesday when their car collided with an SUV in Ham Lake. The crash ignited the SUV. Authorities say the 33-year-old SUV driver was not burned, but was critically injured in the crash. He was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center.

In Todd County, a minivan left a highway south of Staples, became airborne and struck some trees Tuesday. Thirty-three-year-old Daniel Waldron of Fridley and 23-year-old Amanda Cowan of Miltona were killed. Three others in the van were injured. A 9-month-old boy in a car seat was not hurt. The State Patrol says the baby was the only person properly restrained in the vehicle.
