This week, three Sallys explore the relationship between Native Americans and jazz, a new musical about the autumn years, and a print artist jamboree in Minneapolis.

The last time Groveland Gallery director Sally Johnson went to 

Highpoint Center for Printmaking's annual "Open Portfolio"

 event, she felt "like a kid in a candy shop." Scores of printmakers lay out their work on tables to be viewed and appraised by museum and gallery directors and the general public. Sally says it's a chance for the artists to get precious feedback and for art lovers to see, and maybe buy, truly impressive work. One day only, this Saturday, June 8, from 1:30 - 7pm at Highpoint in Minneapolis.

A crotchety old man preparing for the retirement home gets bitten by the show business bug...the musical. That's how Twin Cities singer and actress Sally Ann Wright describes 

at the Plymouth Playhouse. Sally Ann says it's the director, (Bain Boehlke) and exceptional cast (Richard Ooms and Claudia Wilkins) that require her attendance. Incidentally, the piece was written by the same folks who brought us "How to Talk Minnesotan" and "Church Basement Ladies." The show runs through July 28.

Minneapolis flute player Sally Heinz says music lovers will get a chance to re-envision the Native American flute as a jazz instrument. Minnesota jazz flutist Bob Fantauzzo and his ensemble JazZen will present 

 at Hamline University's Sundin Hall, Saturday June 8th at 7:30pm. Jazz vocalist and ceremony singer Lyz Jaakola, who is Anishinaabe, will accompany the group.
