In a meeting described as "tense" and "icy," President Obama discussed the conflict in Syria with Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin Monday at the G8 summit in Northern Ireland.

Obama announced $300 million more in humanitarian aid to Syria and neighboring countries taking in Syrian refugees. The move comes several days after the U.S. said it will supply the opposition with military aid in its battle to oust President Bashar Assad.

The Daily Circuit will feature a discussion about what G8 leaders hope to accomplish with their talks about Syria.

Deep differences over Syria's fierce civil war clouded a summit of world leaders Monday, with Russian President Vladimir Putin defiantly rejecting calls from the U.S., Britain and France to halt his political and military support for Syrian leader Bashar Assad's regime.
