Q&A: Rep. Collin Peterson on defeat of farm bill

Members of Congress are heading home today after yesterday's shocking defeat of the farm bill. The bill would have cut the food stamps program and transformed subsidies for farmers from direct payments to crop insurance premium support.

Republicans in the house lost 60 of their own members who voted against the bill along with most Democrats.

Rep. Collin Peterson, represents Minnesota's 7th Congressional District, the ranking Democrat on the House agriculture committee, spoke with MPR News on the bill's defeat.
