Minneapolis bicyclist dies after hit-and-run

A bicyclist died Friday after a hit-and-run incident this week, according to the Minneapolis Police Department.

The woman was struck at about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of 28th Street and Pleasant Ave. S. Police say the suspect vehicle was speeding on Pleasant Ave. with its headlights off when it ran a stop sign, hit the bicyclist, and fled the scene.

"There were some witnesses to this and investigators have spoken with them, but we don't have enough suspect vehicle information quite yet to move forward," Minneapolis police spokeswoman Cyndi Barrington said. "So we are reaching out to the public because they are the best set of eyes and ears that the police department has."

The bicyclist was taken to the Hennepin County Medical Center, where she died.

Her identity has not been released.

Minneapolis police asks anyone with information to call 612-692-8477.
