Minn. woman pleads guilty to perjury in al-Shabab investigation

Federal prosecutors have obtained another guilty plea related to their investigation into the recruitment of Minnesota fighters for the Somali terror group al-Shabab.

Saynab Hussein, pleaded guilty to perjury today in federal court in Minneapolis. Hussein told a grand jury in 2009 that she did not know anyone who raised money for the Minnesota men who went to fight Ethiopian troops in Somalia.

But prosecutors said in a court document that Hussein had raised money for the men.

Hussein could be sentenced to up to five years in prison.
