Arrests ends standoff at Burnsville gas station

Burnsville police say a man is custody after he allegedly took two gas station employees hostage during an attempted robbery.

Police say the man was armed with a shotgun and fired one shot into the ceiling Saturday evening. KSTP-TV reports the two employees were not hurt.

It happened at the Holiday station store near Highway 13 and Nicollet Avenue around 6 p.m. Officers set up a perimeter and blocked off traffic on nearby roads.

Police say there was a short standoff until an officer spoke with the suspect on the phone and persuaded him to surrender. He was then taken into custody without further incident.
