 regent Clyde Allen has been discussing the U's use of space at today's Board of Regents meeting.

If I've heard clearly, he said 27 percent of facilities are offices, and another U official said about 18 percent goes to research.

Allen said only 4 percent goes to classrooms.

A lot of people, he said, have mentioned the U could save a lot of money by using classroom space more efficiently.

But Allen suggested that at 4 percent, the savings would be small stuff.

Plus, he said, classrooms are "heavily used."
