A New York firm has been chosen to redesign Nicollet Mall in downtown Minneapolis, a $30 to $50 million project that city leaders hope will be complete by 2016.

The firm, James Corner Field Operations, has designed several projects including the High Line, a park that was created on an abandoned strip of elevated train track in New York City.

This will be Nicollet Mall's first major update since the 80s.
