Voyageurs National Park in northern Minnesota is reopening to visitors, now that the federal government shutdown is over.
Visitors can enter public areas and roads immediately while facilities and other public services are reopened.
Voyageurs National Park had been closed since Oct. 1 when the shutdown started. The park reopened Thursday after Congress passed a bill to reopen government and lift the nation's debt ceiling.
Superintendent Mike Ward says autumn is a special season to enjoy what Voyageurs has to offer.
All park roads, boat launch ramps, waters and land areas are open as of Thursday morning. The Rainy Lake Visitor Center will reopen Friday.
