This week, dancers moving to a mix of old and still older traditions, a film fest that illuminates the lives of people with disabilities, and a play about how childhood memories cloud the future of a family.

Zorongo Flamenco Dance Theatre founder Susana Di Palma is headed to 

m in St. Paul this weekend to see a new work by a local company she's long admired, 

. "Karna the Abandoned Hero," reworks an epic Indian story while incorporating Kathak choreography and gospel singing. Nov. 1 and 2.

Lanesboro, Minn., jewelry designer and goldsmith Liz Bucheit predicts that people who see 

 at the Commonweal Theatre will recognize some aspect of their family in the story line. It's about three sisters who reunite at their mother's funeral and struggle to create a stronger bond as siblings and a collective memory of their childhood.

Video producer and filmmaker Joe Harewicz says the 

 attempts to change the way we perceive people with disabilities. It's a collection of American and foreign films about the lives of the disabled that's been touring the country.  It's at St. Anthony Main theaters in Minneapolis from Nov. 1 - 5.
