Cube Critic Stephanie Curtis doubted that the world needed another film adaptation of Charles Dickens' "Great Expectations," but the movie won her over.
Here's why:
• The incredible cast, which includes Ralph Fiennes as Abel Magwitch and Helena Bonham Carter as Miss Havisham.
• It sticks to the original Dickens' story without trying to add cute twists.
• The beautiful cinematography captures beautifully the bucolic English seaside as well as the gritty, claustrophobic urban Victorian life.
And on the radio this week, Stephanie and I review "Great Expectations" and some of the films from two local festivals: Sound Unseen and Images of Africa.
