Outgoing Minneapolis mayor R.T. Rybak will be getting a rock-and-roll sendoff at Minneapolis concert venue First Avenue.

The Dec. 18 farewell party will include a variety of musical acts, including DJ Shannon Blowtorch from the local hip-hop group Grrrl Prty, and Dave Simonett from Duluth band Trampled by Turtles.

Tickets, which cost $7, go on sale Friday at noon. Proceeds will benefit the Minneapolis STEP-UP program, which helps low-income young people find summer jobs.

Rybak has given the event an irreverent tag line: "What are they going to do, impeach me?"

He's been the city's mayor for the last 12 years, and decided not to seek re-election. His last day on the job is Jan. 1.

The next day, Rybak will begin his new role as executive director of Generation Next. The non-profit organization is dedicated to improving educational achievement among Twin Cities minority populations.
