Tuesday is the final day to sign up for MNSure health insurance coverage that begins Jan. 1. The deadline had been extended from Dec. 23 after technical problems made it difficult for people to sign up online.

Interim MNsure Executive Director Scott Leitz joined The Daily Circuit Dec. 20 to discuss the extension:

MNsure customers will have until Jan. 10 to pay for a plan.

Even if someone picks a plan on time, they may not be in their insurer's system for a few more days, Leitz said.

People shouldn't expect to have their insurance ID card immediately, but customers will be covered retroactively, Leitz added.
