This week: muted minimalist soundscapes, art that simultaneously shocks, pleases and tricks the eye, and accordion music the way dancers like it.

If you're a bop-til-you-drop dancer, like photographer Stuart Klipper, you develop an attachment to musicians who play for dancers. One of Stuart's favorite groups, 

, is marking its 20th year with a concert this Saturday, Jan. 11 at 8 p.m., at The Cedar in Minneapolis.

There's officially only one weekend left in what mnartists.org Editor Susannah Schouweiler describes as one of the most stimulating art exhibits she saw in 2013. 

 at the Weinstein Gallery in Minneapolis, gave Susannah's eyes and brain an entertaining workout. But it also engaged in the conversation the great painters have been having over the decades through their experimentation with color and perception. The show closes Saturday, Jan. 11, but can still be seen by appointment. through Jan. 18.

Minnpost.com Artscape writer and Bebopified blogger Pamela Espeland is drawn to a collaboration between a superstar violinist and a German pianist and composer that's coming to Minneapolis. Silfra, a new improvised music project by 

, co-presented by the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra's Liquid Music series and the Schubert Club Mix, will be performed at Aria in Minneapolis, Jan. 12 at 7 p.m. The event is sold out but standing room tickets will be available at the door.
