This week, macho, iconographic art from a Montana-born Minneapolis artist, a movement theater piece on what it feels like to have schizophrenia, and two parallel exhibitions in Minneapolis and St. Paul by the same New York-based artist.

Visiting the Rochester Art Center, says artist and Minneapolis College of Art and Design instructor Andy DuCett, will never be a wasted trip, especially if you're going to see "Stand By Your Accidents." Andy says Minneapolis artist David Rathman's examination of American masculinity, through ink, oil and watercolor depictions of athletes, cowboys and cars, is amazing to see and ponder. Through Jan. 26 -- so this is the final weekend. RAC is hosting a closing reception and catalog release on Sunday.

Artist and St. Paul teacher Kyle Johanson says the Twin Cities have honored buzzed-about New York artist 

 with two concurrent exhibitions, on opposite sides of the river. 

 at Juxtaposition Arts in Minneapolis, offers an expansive display of xerox copies of 1920s-era black radical periodicals, which guests can pick up and read. 

 at The Bindery Projects in St. Paul, is more abstract. It features human-figure-sized nearly transparent images which appropriate text from found pulp fiction novels.

According to Minneapolis stilt walker and stage manager Deb Ervin, 

 is a powerful, moving, and imaginative view of life from the perspective of someone with schizophrenia. Off-Leash Area first staged the production at the Playwright's Center in Minneapolis in 2007. It's being re-mounted at the Cowles Center for Dance for only three performances, Jan. 24-26, at 8 p.m.
