Joan Mondale's life is being honored and memorialized Saturday at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Minneapolis.
After her death she was remembered as a committed partner to her husband Walter and a tireless advocate for the arts, locally and internationally.

As Joan Mondale looks on, Vice President Hubert H. Humphrey administers the senatorial oath of office to Walter Mondale at Bethesda Naval Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland in January 1967. Two days before he was to be sworn in for his first full Senate term, Mondale underwent surgery for appendicitis. He was unable to attend the Congressional swearing-in ceremony, but he was able to be sworn in at the hospital by Humphrey.
