Charges filed in Mpls. murder
The Hennepin County Attorney's Office filed murder charges today against a Hopkins man.
Prosecutors say Shane Maurice McPike, 35, took part in the murder of 34-year-old Adrian Carr of St. Louis Park on Feb. 23, according to the charges.
A witness told police McPike drove a black car next to an SUV Carr was sitting in along the 3400 block of Snelling Avenue in Minneapolis. According to the complaint, an unarmed passenger fired several shots into the SUV before McPike drove away.
Carr died from a gunshot wound to the head, said a report from the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office.
Police later found the black car with the gun inside it. According to the charges, investigators found a mixture of DNA from three or more people on the gun.
Prosecutors charged McPike with two counts of second degree murder and with illegal possession of a gun.
