"As Russia conducts direct military intervention in Ukraine," writes Ian Bremmer, "we're witnessing the most seismic geopolitical events since 9/11.
"A big part of the problem is that Russia is a declining power, and it's in the West's best interest to let that slowly play out over time. But the recent response on Ukraine pushed too hard, prompting President Vladimir Putin to retaliate with a decisive response. To say the US-Russia relationship is presently broken is an understatement."
Bremmer wrote those observations in the Business Insider, but he also gives advice on geopolitical issues of the day to clients as founder and president of the Eurasia Group. Today he shares his insights with The Daily Circuit as well.
Bremmer is in town to keynote an event at the Nobel Peace Prize Forum, which describes the Eurasia Group as providing "analysis and expertise about how political developments and national security dynamics move markets and shape investment environments."
