State GOP convention formally starts in Minot

Hundreds of GOP delegates have descended on Minot for the state Republican Convention.

The two-day event formally starts Saturday weekend at the State Fairgrounds in Minot.

Delegates are slated to endorse candidates for U.S. House, tax commissioner, two public service commission seats, secretary of state, attorney general and agriculture commissioner. Only the race for state agriculture commissioner has a contest.

National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus, along with Abraham Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt impersonators, are slated to address delegates on Saturday.

The convention runs through midday Sunday.
