Body found in plane crash in Lake Superior

The body of a pilot whose plane crashed in Lake Superior off Duluth has been found.

WDIO-TV reports a body was found underwater just before 9:30 p.m. Saturday.

According to the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office, the water is so deep that they have to hold off on the recovery until they can bring in commercial divers.

Duluth Fire Department officials have said the Duluth International Airport tower lost contact with a single-engine plane with at least one occupant at about 11:30 a.m. Saturday.

According to the sheriff's office, pieces of the plane were found underwater and some personal belongings were found on the surface near Brighton Beach.

Authorities are investigating the crash's cause.
